6 Basic Strikes

One of the first lessons taught to beginners is the 6 Basic Strikes. Here, the most common strikes used by a person is collated into a set of basic strikes. The strikes also correspond to the most common target areas as well. The angles of attack are
1. High Forehand (diagonal downward to the temple)
2. High Backhand (diagonal downward to the temple)
3. Low Forehand (horizontal to the knee)
4. Low Backhand (horizontal to the knee)
5. Centerline (forward downward to the crown or forehead)
6. Centerline Thrust (forward - upward at an angle, to the solar plexus)

The set must be memorized. However, each individual strike must also be practiced apart, using lots of repetitions. The video provides an example of how to perform said repetitions.
