Senior Master Ryan C. Gialogo, LAKAN Walo

SM Ryan C. Gialogo is part – time faculty member of the Loyola Schools Physical Education Program of the Ateneo de Manila University.
 
An MA candidate in Education Administration and a LET (Licensure Examination for Teachers) passer for Secondary Level Social Studies, he has been a prolific curriculum developer, having written the curriculum for the STI College PE 3 (Basic Arnis Course) Courseware, STI College PE 4 (Intermediate Arnis Course) Courseware, and the Loyola Schools PE 140 (Power Boxing) Course.
 
His career revolves around martial arts and sports.  He served as the Quezon City National Sports Association Commissioner for five years.  He has officiated for local, regional, national, and international events, including the 2005 South East Asian Games, where he served as the head referee and judge.  He has been featured several times in television for his knowledge in Arnis as a sport and as a martial art, and for his skills in knife – fighting, being dubbed as the “master of the balisong”.  He is also a boxing instructor.  He is currently the secretary – general of the Kali Arnis Martial Arts Foundation, Incorporated – an NGO dedicated in the preservation, promotion, and propagation of the Philippine indigenous martial art.
 
An 8th degree black belt (Lakan Walo) in Arnis, he conducts seminars for Arnis sports rules, self – defense, and coaching clinics.  He has under his cap several gold, silver, and bronze medals in local, regional, national, and international tournaments, including the World Rank No. 3 in the 2013 International Martial Arts Contest, wherein he competed in the individual weapons category.  He also competed in kickboxing and other formats of sword – fighting.  He is the 2011 World Sword Cutting Competition Champion.  As a retired athlete, he now hones his teaching skills by handling school – based clubs at all levels – elementary, secondary, tertiary, and graduate levels, for both male and female students.  Currently he has produced and is still producing hundreds of champions.

Currently he has co - authored several books and is currently developing other books as well and now, online educational materials as well.
